Group Home Services

Hampton Roads Residential Services provides support and accommodations to adults with developmental disabilities in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) assist residents as-needed with daily meal preparation, hygiene needs, participation in community activities, medication management and in the completion of all outcomes outlined in their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs). These support services are intended to train and assist each resident in attaining the communication and functional skills necessary to live in their community and reach their maximum potential. Below are some of the highlights and key pieces of information for our group homes:

Program cost: $700 per month for a Living Expense Contribution to contribute towards the rent of each resident's room and groceries. All other services that we provide are covered by the Community Living Waiver.

 

Accessibility: All of HRRS’ houses and vehicles are wheelchair-accessible. Staff are trained in transferring clients, using hoyer lifts, stair lifts, wheelchairs and ramps, as needed.

Expertise: HRRS’ team of Direct Support Professionals are all trained and assessed on an annual basis to meet DBHDS’ standards in the following advanced competencies:

• Autism Supports

• Behavioral Supports

• Health and G-Tube Supports

Private Bedroom: All residents will have their own private bedroom and will never share a bedroom.

 

Transportation: We provide transportation to all medical appointments and activities.

 

Supervision: We provide 24/7 supervision, unless requested otherwise.

Medication Management: Our staff are trained in medication management and administration by a Virginia Board of Nursing-certified Registered Nurse. We also will monitor and order renewals for all prescriptions.

Meal Preparation: We provide at least three nutritious meals and two snacks per day. We accommodate any dietary restrictions and will work with residents to plan meals that they find appealing. All meals are cooked fresh daily with ingredients purchased from local grocery stores.

 

Personal Finance: HRRS is a registered Representative Payee with Social Security. We offer this service free-of-charge to all residents. While in our service, residents can also learn about their benefits, how to identify and manage their own funds and the basics of personal finance.

Network of service providers: Whether you’re new to the area or looking for a particular type of specialist, we probably have someone that we can recommend. We’ve helped residents find all kinds of specialists including: behavioral support, psychiatry, wound care, podiatry, ENT, neurological, in-home nursing, and primary care physicians, just to name a few.
